Make AI Practical
Next upCustomised Workshop 1st - Build a Personal Knowledge Agent In 3 Hours

Stop learning AI alone.

You've read the articles. Saved the tutorials. Installed the tools. And somehow you still feel behind — because AI isn't something you figure out by yourself. It's something a community figures out together.

MAP (Make AI Practical) is Melbourne's not-for-profit AI learning community: 200+ members, in English and Chinese, building real things with AI and showing each other how they went.

What we run

Pick your door in

  • Coffee chats

    Free.

Bring your questions. Leave with answers and people to ask next time.

  • Workshops

    3 hours, small fee.

Build one real thing, step by step, with help in the room. It works before you go home.

  • Showcase demos

    Free.

Members show what they actually shipped — the wins, the dead ends, and what they'd do differently. At our last Demo Day, every speaker on stage had once been in the audience.

What MAP is

A community, not a course. And no one's making money.

MAP is a registered not-for-profit association, run entirely by co-creators — members who volunteer their evenings and weekends because they remember what it felt like to start.

Workshops charge a fair fee to cover venues and materials. Every dollar of surplus goes into the community fund. Nobody takes a cut. That's not a marketing line — it's written into our constitution.

Real AI · Real Life · Real Connection.

The three-stage path

From your first prompt to working agents

  1. Foundations

Get comfortable with what today's AI can and can't do.

  2. Workflows

Wire AI into the real tasks you do every week.

  3. Agents

Hand off whole multi-step jobs to AI that can act on its own.

Our community

From a kitchen table to 200+ members

MAP's first session was an AI sharing circle for busy mums, around a founder's dining table in May 2025. The mums from that first session are still in the community today.

  • 15+events
  • 200+members
  • 6suburbs
  • 2languages

We measure success in an unusual way: not how many people attend, but how many come back — and how many go from sitting in the audience to standing at the front.

Your first session is the whole pitch.

We're not going to convince you here. Come once — that usually does it.
